Curriculum and Assessment (Wales) Bill - Relationships and Sexuality Education and Religion, Values and Ethics

Dear Each,

Thank you very much for contacting me about key elements of the Curriculum and Assessment (Wales) Bill, in particular Relationships and Sexuality Education and Religion, Values and Ethics.

Welsh Conservatives feel that the content of the new curriculum has to be devised with children and families as well as interest groups – not imposed – and everything within it must be age-appropriate. Alongside that we will consider what, of value, would be achieved by altering the status quo on parental rights.

My colleague Suzy Davies MS, the Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Education, Skills and the Welsh Language, who is leading for us on this Bill, will be representing our position during the 15th December Debate on the Bill’s General Principals and she will also continue to raise these concerns throughout the Bill’s progression through the Welsh Parliament.

Yours Sincerely,

Mark Isherwood MS.
