When I asked the Education Minister what further options he was considering for Glynd?r University he refused to add to his November Statement.

However, he was more helpful when I called on him to support the efforts of Vision Support and RNIB to tackle shortages in specialist rehabilitation and training for people with sight problems in Wales.

I called for Welsh Government Statements on its proposals to cut housing related support for vulnerable people in North Wales by 20% and redirect funding elsewhere - and on free transport for the elderly and disabled after concerns expressed by Age Cymru about the future of the Community Transport Concessionary Fares Initiative.

Questioning the First Minister, I asked what action the Welsh Government will take to extend the work of Credit Unions in Wales after changes to the UK Credit Unions Act, what action the Welsh Government is taking to prevent mortgage repossessions - and to join me in congratulating Denbighshire County Council’s Leader on his OBE for services to local government and on figures identifying Denbighshire as the highest performing council in Wales.

Speaking in the European Programmes debate, I noted that Wales remains the least prosperous of  UK devolved countries and English regions, despite billions in European funding, and stated “The UK’s place is in Europe, not run by Europe, in the single market, but outside economic, monetary and political union.”

Speaking in the Skills debate, I noted that the UK Work Programme “is about giving new skills to people far from the jobs market” and quoted the statement at last November’s Spotlight North Wales Conference that the Work Programme “was one of the biggest Welfare to Work programmes the UK had ever seen.”

I gave my backing in debate to Ken Skates’ proposed Bill to ensure young people leaving the care system in Wales get more support.

Speaking on Whistleblowers, I stated the Welsh Government had a moral responsibility to protect vindicated whistleblowers in north east Wales who have suffered intimidation.

I sponsored and spoke at Assembly events with NEA Cymru and Calor (Rural Fuel Poverty) and Age Alliance Wales.
